Ladies Welfare Association is a registered non-profit,
voluntary and non-governmental organization providing
diagnostic care and medicines for underprivileged
through a charitable dispensary. Since its inception
in 1977 PLWA has helped tiny tots begin their education
and imbibe hygiene and health habits and correct
values through a Balwadi. The organisation also
holds regular educative programmes for their members
every 1st Wednesday of the month.
Educational monthly programme for all members
has been holding educative social programmes for
their 150 members over the last 41years i.e. since
13th January 1972. This programme held on the 1st
Wednesday of every month encourages the spirit of
social service and togetherness amongst our residents.
At these meetings programmes are arranged covering
educational, informative topics, social recreation
and celebrations. Besides widening the member’s
horizon it gives an opportunity to socialize and
bond with neighbours and make new friends. PLWA
holds an Annual Function once a year, since 2013
this function has been converted into a fundraiser
to enhance the ongoing work of the organisation.
Some of the popular programmes of PLWA include the
annual Karwa Chauth celebrations at the club premises
for the ladies of the colony. This programme was
initiated by Ms.Manorama Bawa along with Ms.Asha
Chandra and Ms.Bipasha Gupta in the year 2000. Initially
it was held at the Primary School of S Block Panchshila
Park , which was later shifted to Club hall due
to its growing popularity, even drawing media attention.
Over the years the colony has grown, new residents
have come in, so PLWA programmes give everybody
a great platform to interact with their neighbours
across S Block, N Block and E Block. Name tags were
introduced in 2012 to help the members bond effortlessly.
After proper evaluation and understanding of common
interests, innovative and popular programmes are
initiated by the current President Ms.Bipasha Gupta
and Secretary Ms Vibha Kapur , taking in contribution
and ideas of the all the members.
PLWA has been taking out a regular News Letter since
April 2012 spreading news of the good work and activities
being carried out by the organisation.
Ladies Welfare Association, PLWA runs a Charitable
Dispensary which is one of the major achievements
of the organization, this program started in 1979
through the joint efforts of the ladies of the colony.
